- 1 (16-ounce) package smoked sausage
- 6 slices bacon
- ¾ cup chopped onion
- 1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
- 1-quart water
- 2 tablespoons chicken soup base
- 2 potatoes, cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 2 cups kale – washed, dried, and shredded
- ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Place sausage links onto a sheet pan and bake for 25 minutes, or until done. Cut links in half lengthwise, then cut at an angle into 1/2-inch slices.
- In a large saucepan, cook the bacon and onion over medium heat until the onion is almost clear. Remove the bacon, crumble, and set aside.
- Add garlic to the pan with the onion and cook for about 1 minute. Pour in the water, add the chicken soup base, and potatoes, then simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the crumbled bacon, sausage, kale, and cream. Simmer for about 5 minutes before serving.
